DOG TRAINING CLASSES

At Gus's Day Diggs we offer a variety of dog training courses in Okotoks that are focused on training and educating your new puppy, or adult dog using behavior management and positive reinforcement techniques.  Our small class sizes and knowledgeable dog trainers teach in fun and interactive classes.

We are currently offering the following classes:

Puppy Essentials

New classes begin:  October 18th [POSTPONED to start November 1st] on Wednesdays at 8:00-9:00 PM, November 13th Mondays at 8:00-9:00 PM

Start your new puppy off on the right foot by attending our Puppy Essentials class, designed for puppies starting aged 20 weeks and younger. Using positive reinforcement training methods, this class covers problem puppy behaviours, basic manners and commands (sit stay, stay, lay down, recall, loose leash walking, leave it, drop it, among others), and includes puppy socialization. From this class, graduates may go on to attend our Better Manners class to continue their learning and learn advanced obedience manners.

Basic Manners

New classes begin:  October 18th [POSTPONED to start November 1st] on Wednesdays at 6:45-7:45 PM

Brush up on overall manners and obedience with your dog in in our Basic Manners class, designed for dogs starting age over 20 weeks who need to learn basic manners and commands. Using positive reinforcement training methods, this class covers common problem behaviours, basic manners and commands (sit stay, stay, lay down, recall, loose leash walking, leave it, drop it, among others), and encourages calm and polite behaviour in your dog. Dogs must be social and able to be in the classroom with other dogs. NOTE - dogs with reactivity or aggression are not suitable for this class.  From this class, graduates may go on to attend our Better Manners class to continue their learning and learn more advanced obedience manners.

Better Manners

New classes begin:  November 13th on Mondays at 6:45-7:45 PM.

For dogs who have already mastered their basic commands and manners, this class is the next level of obedience. Our positive reinforcement class focuses on refining your dog’s manners with more commands and challenging skills. This class works on position changes (sit to stand, stand to down, etc.), paw targets and pivot work, loose leash walking using leash cues, competition heeling prep work, recall from distractions, sit from a distance, problem solving naughty behaviours (jumping, barking, etc.), among other skills. Dogs attending this class must have attended our Puppy Essentials or Basic Manners classes, or otherwise be able to show adequate obedience in the basic commands covered in those classes.  NOTE - dogs with reactivity or aggression are not suitable for this class.
